Does anyone know which rancho 9000 shocks I would need if I install 3" Big Blue Springs? In the rear I plan on using spring retainers from EE. My problem is that I don't know if I could keep the stock shoch mount (rear) or if I have to get extended shock mounts to benifit from the added drop that the retainers will give me? I would guess that the shock's will have to be longer if I go with the relocated shock mounts but I'm not sure if I need them! Thanks |

Adrian, I think RS9234 is what RTE is recommending for the rear with cones and RS9207 for the front. I installed RS9234 on all four corners. Some people are going for the extra long RS9012 in the rears. If at all possible, can you take a measurement from top mount to bottom mount with your current shocks unbolted (and the suspension at full droop)? This may give you a ball park figure to use when you go to www.gorancho.com website. |

Ali, Do the 9234's bottom out before the springs do up front? If they're extra long for the rear I would think they would be to long for the front? |

I have 9014s in the front and rear(had to make new upper mounts for the rear). In the front they are a direct replacement but with 10" of travel vs 8" stock. So if you have a two inch lift, you get the full drop travel back by just substituting the 9014s for stock. Use spacers and to tune the springs to the shock travel. Randall |

Don't use RS9234 in the rear due to their softer valving. Use RS9251 instead. I know two LRs that have blown 9234s! Randall, How are the valving on the 9014s? What positions do you normally run them in? |

A. Ali A few of those long travel Ranchos are made for use as dual shocks, so they are really too softly valved. The 9014 is used with lifted pick trucks, and are designed to be softer on compression, and firmer on extension(made for leaf springs). I have dual rate RR rear springs on all four corners and this works pretty good for me. I have mine set at 2 in the front and in the rear, unless there's a big weight in the truck, then I set them on 3. The nice thing about the 9014s is that there is no modification required in the front. But I made my own upper rear shock mounts. Randall |

Randall, Thx for the info. I think I'll go with the 9014s on all around too. |
