I read the locker install article in the tech section and was wondering... After you take off the steering dampener, tie rod and drive shaft on the front what is the next step? I was told I would need to take off a 52mm wheel bearing nut the brake rotor... but in the tech section it looks like you take the swivel housing loose from the axle tube and just slide the whole assy out. That seems much faster and easier to do. Has anyone done this before or know if thats correct? |

If your just installing a locker, the axles will come out with the hub. You juts need to unbolt the hub from the axle housing. The 52 mm nut secures the axle to the hub. you do not need to take it off. |

You nailed it - just remove the entire swivels at the axle tube - heavy to handle, but much faster than taking everything apart. Though, if anything is suspect such as wheel bearings, hub seals, CV joint, swivel preload, you could tear it all down from the outside-in to address any/all of those issues. Bill |
