My window frame rattles and is loose, I suspect its a bolt down in the door , how do take off the panel (99 DII) correctly. Its the drivers panel. When I go down the highway it sounds as if my window is cracked because of the air ingress due to the door frame not being tight. |

Use a panel popper, available from any parts store. The interior panels are attached with plastic 'pins' that pressure fit into a mating piece. The plastic pins have a head that fits into a slot in the inside of the panel. Slip the panel popper between the panel and the door, pry up slightly, look around until you see one of the pins. Then slip the panel popper around the head of the pin, and pry up gently. Repeat for each pin. On a D1, you don't have to remove the speaker, just unplug it from behind once you have that part of the panel loose. I don't know about a D2. To reinstall the door panel, just line up the pins, and push them in place. |

If you don't have a panel popper, you can use a salad fork. Pry it up a tiny bit with flathead screwdriver, get the fork under it as you pull out the the screwdriver, then just pull up and off with fork. |

I removed the interior panel on my 99 DII and it is straight forward. You do not need a panel popper if you are careful. If it's your first time, get one. If I remember correctly there is a screw attaching the door handle to the panel that must be removed. Also, you might have to disconnect the linkage to the door lock indicator once the panel is loosened. Try to pry straight out from the door. If you put the panel at too much of an angel when removing it, you will likely shatter a trim panel clip. The speaker can be unplugged once the panel is loosened. Once you have seperated the bottom and sides of the panel, it must be pried straight up to seperate it from the window channel. The front door panels are easier to remove than the rear cargo door panel (in case you have removed this panel before). |

I did mine without the proper tool, and I broke two pins. I'll try the salad fork next time... |

Lewis, Lee just made a good point about removing them at an angle. The fork I use is somewhat flexible so the tines can & do bend when I remove those thingys. That way, the thingy does come out at the angle it should and I just bend the tines back into place. The only casualty I have had with it is not stopping movement of the fork fast enough once panel thingy is out. I scratched a few areas when that happened, but they're out of sight. I forgot to buy a panel popper everytime I was somewhere they were sold and I just got used to using a fork. The fork is now a "designated tool" and it stays in my toolbox |

i'e found needle nose plyers work well. open them up and slid over the plastic rivet thing and pry up. it's not rocket science and most auto stores sell the plastic clips under the brand name "help" you'll have to find the closes one to the land rover part amd make it work. rd |

First thing to do when your removing the front door panel on a D2 is roll the window down and remove the interior wiper rail. Next is take all the screws out...the two screws off that hold the handle, the one screw that holds the release lever escutcheon, then the four screws in the lower section of the door panel. Once these are removed then use panel popper/fork/what have you...I use my bare hands and gently pop them starting at the bottom corners and work your way up. Speaker wire is as others have said as is the door lock. Besides being bolted on the inside of the door at the bottom (each end), the window channel is also anchored at the top on either end by torx(sp?) screws (two... one on each end). |

Mr. Craig Kobayashi, you have been picking on me since you moved into the lounge. I don't know how much you paid Ho or what favor you had to "Do" for John Lee but dragging the chop sticks thing out here shows that you are secretly loving them, there is just no greater flattery. Now, since I suggested the needle nose pliers and I am all east coasted up. I can easily see Cleatus offering some dear sausage while we are fixing our trucks out in the snow and yes... I would grab the patty with my pliers, spat my tobacco and then eat it up. Todd the way you use your bare hands to pop that door panel. it, it, it... you animal... do you give back rubs?
