My 97 D1 has been leaking oil out of the top rear of the engine near where the spark plug wires are. (Top rear of the engine under the windshield) I haven't been able to pin point the leak. The rig has been riding real sluggish since this started. Any idea what might be the issue here?

Possibly intake manifold gasket- if the gasket sucks in, it wil create a vacuum leak that will cause the engine to run very lean (aka poorly)and an oil leak. One thing I would check for the source of the problem is the oil seperator. It is located inside the valve cover on the passenger's side of the engine. It this is clogged, the engine will not vent the extra combustion gasses properly and possibly over pressurise the crank case. Hope this helps!

Hi Tevor, Thanks. It does help. I just recently got a valve job so they might of messed something up in there. I will look for that.

Here is another thought. If the tech used the wrong length bolt to secure the metal clamp that helps seal the rear of the intake manifold gasket, than that could also be an issue. If the bolt is too long, it bottoms out, allowing the seal to suck in. So far, I have seen it twice from the local dealer.
The bolt will be tight, but not applying enough pressure to the clamp/seal/gasket.

When I had the valve job the tech replaced every seal on the top of the engine I would definitely take it back.
