i replaced my spark plugs and spaark plug wires about 2 months ago. a week after replaceing them i got a multiple/random cylinder misfire code, i went in and made sure i had good connections to all my plugs and wires and cleared the code. a few weeks later i got the code again. i called rovers north to insure i had been sent the right set of wires and they said i had. so last night i opened the hood in the dark and checked for arcs. on the passenger side of the engine i could see a light blue glow coming from around each plug as the current ignited the plugs. also on the drivers side where the wires turn the 90 degreee corner at the valve cover i could visually see the current flashing inside the wires as the current rounded the corner. do i have some arcing issues here? or are these wires just crap? i am pretty sure that they should probably have enough insulation on them to prevent me from seeing the current inside them. so im thinking i send em back to rovers north and get a better set. i have heard people rave about magnawires? or magnacoil? something like that i cant remember exactly. if any of you guys have any insight into my issue or any further recommendations please let me know. thanks |

Sounds like garbage wires. The magnacore's have been pretty good as long as the boots get seated fully onto the plug. You can order them from magancore direct. Bill |

Cant go wrong with the magnecore wires. They will last a lifetime. I have had a set of KV85's for about two years and they still work and look new. http://www.magnecor.com/magnecor1/specialoffers/offers-rover.htm |

The KV85's are constructed different than the 7's and 8's...the magnecor website gives a pretty good breakdown on the differences. I think the 8.5's are a much better wire, but the 7's and 8's are also very good. Magnecor's website has some great reading on ignition wires, its an ugly site, but the content is great. |

I just installed a set of 7mm Magnacore wires last saturday along with Bosch platinum + 4 plugs. Magnacore directs you to Rover Connection to order the wires. I believe that they are the exclusive distributor at this time for Magnacore wires for Land Rovers. By the way, It runs great now. If you buy the 8mm wires you may have a hard time snapping them into the stock retainers. The 7mm's were pretty tight. Also there is not a good "snap" when pushing the wires over the plugs. It takes alot of pressure to get them to seat, but you can feel it. Mike |

Anthony, Not on a '96.... OBD-I, ie, '94 or '95 with the 3.9 engine, has a code box under the seat. '96 and on is a 4.0 engine with OBD-II... you have to use an OBD-II code reader plugged into the place under the dash. Oh, and BTW....

Nice Leslie, may I steal your picture for later use? btw: if you used silicone sealent on the plug wires you have to be careful not to use too much. They used to have a little article on Mags site. -Leo

I have an original set of OEM wires on the '96 Disco with 139kmi, and they still work great. |
