About a month ago I was asking about plywood floor and cargo boxes. Here is a photo gallery of what I came up with...

http://www.pbase.com/jamooche/trunk_setup

Tuffy cargo drawer
Furniture rubber pad spacers
.75" plywood covered with outdoor carpet
Turn buckles and brackets
8 D-rings
Powertank is mounted to a piece of wood that is bolted to the jump seat bolt holes

For those who were concerned about the shovel tied to the grab handle, I took it apart and put it in the drawer.

Also...

I was not happy with the cargo lighting, so I picked up 2 cheap lights from AutoZone and mounted them to the trim piece in the back. Super bright now.

And the powertank is mounted to a piece of wood that is bolted to the jump seat bolt holes.

nice lights - did you wire them to go on with the normal cargo lights (when doors open)?

Blue,
The lights only turn on when I flip the switch, that way I can control their useage. They are really meant to be used as outdoor fogs so they draw more power than normal internal lights. I wired them directly to the battery.

Cool, they would be a bit bright for normal use whenever the door is opened.

Jamil you need those lights the Police use as dome lights, they are not quite as direct a beam, but put out the light!!

That guy? Why not? The black powertank cover was boring.

The lights do have a hard direct beam, but they fill the entire cargo area with more than enough light.

Jamie,

Thank you very much. From someone who is the the modification master that means a lot. The drawer allows me to have an empty trunk. When I picked my mother up from the airport, I was able to throw her 2 70lb suitcases right on top with no problems. I have done the Jamil test also which is me, 160lbs, jumping up and down on the plywood...no problems.

The best was the dishes for thanksgiving dinner...I used the new tie down rings to hold them steady while driving.

The Tuffy drawer is definitely worth the money.

Thanks everyone.

No, she sat up front in the passenger seat...

That's the Greg Davis rear bumper. You can see more of it in his photo gallery on this site.

Are you going to make it to VTXS this weekend?

Dave,
Sweet, you decided to get an engel for that gourmet trailside cooking. I won't be there this weekend as I am in the middle of the worst exam block ever. But I'm off from the 19th to the 5th. Drop me an email and we can get together for comparison, wheeling, etc.

I am going to be installing the GPS, jotto desk, and power inverter, and redo some sloppy wiring over break too. Will be in western MA for most of the first week so trails are close by. (NoHo mudflats might be interesting in the snow.)

David,

Any more detailed pics of your rear cargo area?

I am making do with stuff mounted to 1/2" MDF, but will consider a more permanent setup soon. I need to accomodate the slide lock for fridge, gear and 2 dogs.

I am curous what yours looks like in detail, you can mail me high-res versions if you have them.

Thanks!

Brian

Can you tell me about your hi lift jack mounts, where you got them and what they would be called?

Also the set up is awesome and the mask rocks

Thanks Blake

You can get those mounts here:
http://www.colemanracing.com/section/index.htp?id=683

I think mine were 1.5" You also need to get the top bolt and the bolt spacer. My guy from the shop ordered them so I am not sure if that site sells the same one I have. But you can probabally use just about anything.

Jamil-

Great set-up! You have very well thought out modifications. The exhaust port is very unique, I've never seen that before. Do you have any problem with the build-up of exhaust solids on the rear fender?

Tim, I've been running my exhaust through my quarter panel for over two years now without any problems other than washing off the soot occassionally.
