Hello all, Well my wife called today and informed me that her Disco is stalling when she brakes for red lights. Not sure what is causing this as it has always ran perfect. I am out of town so I havent checked it out yet but was wondering if anyone has had this problem themselves. Thanks Gordo

Check the fuel pump and the fuel lines. This happened to a friend of mine, and there was simply not enough fuel pressure in the system when the RPM's dropped low enough (like stopping for a red light). His engine ended up failing, and it would not start at all in the end. Hope this helps.

Another odd thing I had once (mine was stalling when I turned left) was the Mass Air Flow Sensor shutting off when the truck went into a left turn. Could be something similar for you? Fuel pump sounds more likely, though.

I had the same thing happen yesterday morning while braking downhill and turning right at the same time. Took about 5 nervous and sweating minutes to start up again. I replaced my fuel pump last summer so my guess is either the pump connectors are dirty or the mass air flow. Ford's are known for their mass air flow problems and it seems like the same scenario.

Gordon,

I'd agree with Alex in saying it could be the mass airflow sensor. i had very similar symptoms and replaced my MAS. Alas, no stalling at slow speeds/reversing. A good tune up (new plugs/leads) helped also
