I went to pass someone today and dumped the accelerator when I let off the gas, the truck stayed at full throttle. I finally downshifted to third and pushed on the brakes and it finally idled down. really crazy though and unsafe. has anyone had this problem. I'm thinking VSS or computer maybe?

I had the same problem. The dealer blamed bad driving. fuckin jackass. anyway, there has been some recalls about the throttle body and cables. fraying in the cables causes them to stick some times. Mud or other debris could also get stuck somewhere and snag the cable. i have an '00 D2

Thanks Rick,

I really appreciate your feedback. I think if a dealer told me that I would kick his ass. This definitely gives me somewhere to start. Thanks again.

Interesting. When I took my '01 in for the 30k tune-up they replaced the throttle linkage.

Hmmmm . . . .

They replaced mine as well, before this incident. They brought a couple service guys out from the back when they heard me yelling at the service manager. I took it to another dealer and the regional rep looked at it. They couldnt find anything wrong and it hasnt happened since. I refuse to go to that dealer for anything now, which is a shame cuz its only 10 mins away. If your ever in jersey and need something, Dont go to land rover Monmouth.

In New Jersey, I would reccomend land Rover Woodbridge, or Land Rover Parsippany. They are both part of the Peter Miller dealership group. Very knowledgeable people, and the service manager in Woodbridge (Randy) is a great guy.

just found the problem. at full throttle, the throttle body sticks and doesn't return to "idle" position. I am going to try and lube it and see what happens.

Paul that is right on with my experience.

"Accelerator cable kinking/chafing

Defect summary:

I have never seen or heard of this actually causing a throttle to stick, though most trucks got new cables.

There was also a recall on a few hundred 03s but they almost all were caught before sale. Again I never saw one cause an issue.

OTOH a lot of the people I know who wheel have had the throttle stick open from crap gunking up the linkage.
