the other night after a driving my D1 all day, i went to put the highbeams on and they wouldnt "click" into place. this wasnt a terrible problem until i realized i had to regular or "low" beams either. only my parking light. is this an electrical malfunction? are the bulbs going dead? |

damien, the switch stalk is usually the culprit in this case, but check your fuses first. the switch is not cheap to replace. cheers, carl |

i think there is a main lighting fuse under the hood, then individual ones in the panel below your steering column. should be marked in both places. otherwise check your owners manual. cheers, carl |

i checked the fuses, no luck there. is there any other reason why this may have happened? also, where do i get a new switch if i need it? and how much will it be? and can i install it myself? |

damien, the stalk has two postions turning, plus the pull contacts for the brights. any combination of the contacts can get fried. you can try running an inline ammeter over the appropriate fuses (under the steering column). absent current there will confirm it is your switch. perhaps you can pull a switch from a local junkyard at a bargain? cheers, carl |
