Hi, I want to replace the rear subwoofers and cannot find the specs on the stock sub amp. Will it be enough to power one, bigger subwoofer.
If its output only goes to one speaker, will it be doubled? Should I find a new subwoofer amp?
Thanks, Dave

You're going to have to find a new sub amp. Even if you did want to use it, it woulnd't be enough. I believe it runs at 2 ohms..., but it's not very powerful at all. I wouldn't buy 6"'s either. I would put a new sub in a new box. That door box is worthless. You're looking at a lot of work though to do this if you're using a stock deck. You'll have to go get a line level converter too, to convert you speaker signal to an RCA signal for your amp.

Dave,
I JUST finished my speaker project. I'll get some pics posted soon. I replaced the 6's in the doors with some 6" drivers from one of my 6.5" seperate speaker systems that had blown tweeters. I then have an 8" Kicker Solo-Baric on a box in the right side where the storage Compartment used to be (I had a seat there). the box is tiny but I did a box within a box. Double front baffle with the forward baffle goiing up high with a door over it. This door hides the amp and makes a nice storage area for my First Aid Kit and Tool Roll. I just bought some Vinyl to cover it in to make it look factory I've been takign pics of the entire project so I'll post them when done. It Sounds GREAT> I use a 4-channel amp with internall crossovers. The sub runs from about 60hz down. The 6's run full range from 55hz up (even at 55hz they are rolling off naturally a bit but thats what sounded best) and use the natrual roll off of the driver at the high end. The 4's in the towers have caps in place to limit the low bass going to them.
Then entire system works great. With just the 6's playing full bass you have rattlign problems with the door. I Dynamatted my License plate and beefed up the mounting plus I used some filling in the door to dampen the sound waves a bit. Crossed over at 55hz I get no rattleing back there.
Without the 6's there was a gap from the 8" to the 4" drivers in the car. The 4's wont play low enough to blend with a real sub like that. With the 6's in place, its very easy to blend the system together. They dont do much back there other than some mid bass necesarry to fill the gap between the 4" and 8" drivers.
Oh yea, I'm running the 4" drivers from a new CD Player on Deck power as I got a lot of "noise" when I tried converting the signal from the deck to an RCA level for an external amp so I just pulle the deck out and replaced it and ran new wire.
