BOUGHT A '00 DISO II ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO WITH 42K AND A LITTLE OVER A YEAR (AT THAT TIME) LEFT ON THE WARRANTY. AT THE 45K SERVICE I ASKED ABOUT MY OPTIONS ON AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AT THE DEALERSHIP (LAND ROVER OF CENTERVILLE UTAH). I WAS TOLD THAT FORD IS NOT INTERESTED IN SELLING EXTENDED WARRANTIES TO SECOND OWNERS, AND THAT THEY CAN'T OFFER ME ANYTHING.

DEPENDING ON THE PRICE, I'M NOT SURE I WOULD HAVE ANYWAY. I'M AT 46.5K NOW, AND I DIDN'T WANT TO WAIT UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE TO SEE WHAT MY OPTIONS ARE, IF ANY.

MY FIRST DISCO ('94) WAS ALWAYS HAVING PROBLEMS, AND HAVING THE WARRANTY ON THIS ONE HAS BEEN GREAT (NEW SUN ROOF'S, HUB, E.T.C.).

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO THEY COULD RELAY ON THIS.
THANKS

Kent,

Who did you talk to? I have had nothing but great luck and service with LR Centerville. Thier warranty response is great and they are constantly asking for me to buy an extended one. Granted, I did buy from them to begin with, but that should not really make a differene if they can verify the prior service.

Anyways - emai me at the address in my profile if I forget to check this thread...

-Curtis

CURTIS,
THE SERVICE GUY'S HAVE BEEN GREAT OVER THE YEARS, MUCH BETTER THAN INTERMOUNTAIN. THEY HAD ME TALK TO THE SALES MANAGER, CAN'T REMEMBER HIS NAME BUT HIS OFFICE WAS RIGHT BY THE TREK DISCO THAT'S BEEN PARKED THERE FOR A WHILE (NORTH? OF THE MAIN DESK). THE DISCO I BOUGHT HAD THE MAINTAINANCE (SP?) AGREEMENT PURCHASED SO ALL THE WORK EVEN OIL CHANGES HAD BEEN DONE AT DEALERSHIPS AROUND DENVER.
I CALLED INTERMOUNTAIN LR THAT WEEK TO SEE IF I'D GET THE SAME ANSWER, THEY GAVE ME SOME GUY'S VOICEMAIL AND I NEVER GOT A CALL BACK.

I KNOW SOME OF THE POSTERS ON THIS SITE WORK AT LR DEALERSHIPS, AND I WAS WONDERING IF THAT WAS POLICY NOW (NOT SELLING EXTENDED WARRANTIES TO SECOND OWNERS).
THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

Kent, it isn't the policy. The vehicle just must be completely inspected, and have absolutely no aftermarket modifications on it. You must also prove that all maintenance has been done on it. With 2nd owners, it isn't easy. You can't just go add it on the computer. It takes a lot of faxing & emailing. They may not want to do it, as it is a heck of a lot of work for the dealership to sell a warranty. It used to be MUCH easier. Ford has changed things. In Centreville's defense, many dealerships do not know the rules for a 2nd owner warranty sale. It is NOT clearly defined in the instructions.

ALYSSA,
THANKS FOR THE INFO, I THINK YOU ANSWERED MY QUESTION WITH "ABSOLUTELY NO AFTERMARKET MODIFICATIONS ON IT". THE CAR WAS CHU SON'S (I'VE SEEN HIM ON THIS BOARD) HE PUT IT HALF WAY BACK TO STOCK, BUT LEFT THE ROCK SLIDERS, CDL, AND HAD RELOCATED THE WASHER RESEVIOR FOR HIS BUMPER (IF HE HAD LEFT ALL HIS MOD'S ON I DEFINATELY WOULD HAVE PAID A COUPLE MORE THOU).
SOUNDS LIKE I SHOULD JUST PUT THE MONEY ASIDE IN THE DISCO ESCRO, AND KEEP UP ON MAINTAINANCE.

THANKS

Kent:

I have used a guy by the name of Hal Moses who specializes in Rover extended warranties. The rules are not so much about after market items, but the truck needs to get signed off by a registered mechanic.

What's great about Hal's company isd that they pay the warranty claim with a credit card back to the dealership. I had a 4-year ext warr up to 100k from 50k on my 99 D2 (until I wrecked it) and he paid all the claims to my rover dealership without hestitation. My service guy loved it! I will look for his number if interested. Lee

Lee,
I would be very interested, if you don't mind trying to track down that number.
Thanks,
Kent
