I determined mine was sticking after playing with it. I lubed it with some white lithium grease for now. It worked great once I lubed it. Is this normal or do I need to have it replaced?

I had that issue at 45K. The dealership replaced mine under warranty.

My 96 RR has a simular mechanism. It stuck at WOT when I went to pass some cars on the freeway here in Southern California. The white lithium base grease in a CRC spray can works very well at keeping the linkage from jamming up. Just keep an eye on it if you off road alot as the dust will wick off the oils in the grease and it can get dried out.

Just be careful.. mine was like that but woul dnot stop accelerating unless i stomped the gas pedal 3 or 4 times.

Slightly exciting ride to work that day.

happened to alyssa's and dom's. keep it clean and lubed and it will be fine.

I include it as part of normal servicing now.

on the plus side you have a while to tkink about it before it gets out of control

Uhhh.. Ron.. you better clarify what you mean by it being on the plus side that he doesnt have to think about it??

It was a very dangerous failure that I had no prewarning or hint that was going to happen when it happened to me. Not something I would consider something not to have a concern about. Someone reading that wrong may not get what you may have been trying to say.

"on the plus side you have a while to tkink about it before it gets out of control"

It was meant as a joke :-)

I mean that the acceleration is so poor that a sticking throttle on a disco takes a while to get to unsafe speeds.

Clean it lube it and you will not have any issues.

I find that lubricants like white lithium grease spray tend to attract dust, get gummy and become worse at sticking throttle. I only clean mine with carb cleaner spray routinely and no probs.

My 2 cents-

I second Greg, clean with carb cleaner, I use it all over the throttle body and have had no problems. Use a rag and a brush and try to get all the gunk out of the crevices. Press and depress the cruise control pump to spin the throttle plate and clean all around the area with a lint free rag.
