When I purhased my 96 Discovery One last month, there was only one key and it wasn't keyless.
Question: are all 96 discos outfitted with keyless entries? If so, what is the best way to purchase another transmitter key that has the same signal?

Thanks,

dean krueger

If it is like the 97's you will have to go to the dealer and have it programmed. On a 96 you may be able to do it yourself. I can't remember the year things changed.

So then I can buy a transmitter key off ebay or the dealership and be confident that there's a keyless entry receiver somewhere on the disco?

You can tell if your keyfob has 2 buttons, then it's a dealer programming thing.
A one knob keyfob is self programmable.

I got only a standard key when I purchased used last month. How can I tell if keyless entry is stock on my vehicle?

thanks,

If you close the driversdoor and lock it, and all other doors lock, then you have combined centralized and remote locking.

Dean,
I have a '96 SD, and though I am fairly sure they all have keyless entry, I can't be 100%! I bought an additional keyless entry unit on Ebay- Land Rover Oregon in Portland charged me $35 to make it work on my truck. But I already had the other one- and I think they used the old one in the process (I was test driving a '99 RR 4.6 HSE at the time). So I'd call your nearest LR dealer before buying one- you should get one on ebay for under 30 bucks. Let us know what happens!
Paul.

96 had standard keyless entry and was the two-button remote. Dealer or an independent shop with Autologic/Rovacomm must program

Thanks, all. I appreciate your answers.
This is the direction I was looking for.

It's cool to know that when I lock the driver's door, all the others lock, too. Now to find the key and get it programmed at the dealer.

Thanks again!
