I have a 95 Disco that is starting to show its age. My brother-in-law works for Ford and can get us one of the new Discos (or any Land Rover for that matter) with his discount. Does anyone know what the cost is on a new Disco? I believe he gets 4% over cost. Is that the same as dealer invoice?

TIA!

Mary

I know when I worked for Panasonic, we could get any Ford line product for the A plan price, which was about 4 to 5 grand below retail. I believe the higher the cost, the better the deal if i recall correctly. It has been 4 years ago though, so don't quote me on this.

Mary, if you are X-Plan, you will pay base invoice + 4% of base invoice + $300 RAG fee (if appropriate in your area) + $645 shipping. RAG is the Retail Ad Group fee that is added to the price all dealerships in the "group" pay.

If you are A-Plan, you pay invoice.

Under A or X Plan, you will receive any available retailer incentives.

You will generally have to pay for your floormats if you do A or X plan. You will also most likely have to choose from the lot. These are very low profit deals that are done as a courtesy to Ford employees, etc..., so having a dealer trade in which the dealer has to pay for transport is unlikely. They also will most likely not sell high demand special edition vehicles this way.

Occasionally, A/X Plan customers will receive an extra $1000 off. Right now there is no such special, though. The last special expired 9/30/03.

Oh... and Mary, wait until January, as we have credible rumours that owner loyalty will be offered on 2004 Discovery starting 1/3/04. Then you will save another $2000.
