Tried to e-mail you, but it came back undeleverable.

Trying to replicate your washer bottle relocation. However, my blower motor seems to be in the way. How did you overcome this, or is your bottle above that?

Greg the threaded metal bars go thru the lip just under the rubber strip and hold the top of the bottle about 3 inches away from the firewall, so it must be above the blower.

Greg,

The email should work (under my profile).

I have the Disco SD (base version), so I don't have ACE or SLS or air susp, so if one of those components is mounted there you're out of luck. I need to update the tech article, so if you can tell what component it is I'll talk to a mod here about updating it.

Sorry for any confusion.

Or you can put in a smaller bottle. I used Deans instructions, but I used a smaller bottle. Works great! (may not look that fabulous though)

Dean, I also don't have any of those. But my blower motor on the firewall won't allow the bottle to fit. It makes it sit about 3" higher than the firewall lip.

Jim, my battery tray is long gone.

I've been using an aftermarket bottle mounted next to my overflow tank, but I have been having alot of problems with them leaking (I have to drill holes for the pumps, and as simple as it seems, can't keep the damn things sealed lately).

So I was hoping to be able to reuse my factory bottle. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a pic of this? I'll try to get a pic of mine close-up tonight and post it here.

Mine is the 2001 D2, there was a change at some point? I didn't have any issues with the blower, I don't even remember seeing the blower, isn't it behind the firewall?

I just had a look - the back of the reservoir is directly below the firewall top edge, and hence the tabs for the two bolts are about 3 inches forward from this point. There is about a 1 inch gab between the front of the reservoir and the back of the white radiator overflow container.

I'll try to take some pics tonight and post them tomorrow. Sounds like there may have been some redesigns at Rover. Figure that!

Dean, thanks. Obviously there's a huge difference between yours and mine. There's no way that it will fit in mine. I'll get some fresh batteries and snap a photo or two in a little while so you can see the blower motor that's in the way.

Thanks for all of your efforts by the way.

Greg, Take lots of pics of whatever you end up with and how you do it, we need to make an amendment to the tech document obviously.

Here are a few shots of my firewall, the offending blower motor, and my installed bottle, which I finally got sealed properly.

So you had to buy that bottle?

Just one thing - I would be slightly concerned about that being so close to the exhaust manifold, especially as its full of methanol. Taking a fire extinguisher with you for a while might be an idea. Or put maybe a reflective plate between.

Thanks for the photos. I'd like to know where my blower is now!

It's not as close as it appears in the photo, but yeah, I'll be careful. I've been running this setup since I built my front bumper almost 2 years ago. Just recently I was having problems with the seals around the pumps and was getting frustrated. A reflective panel is a good idea.

The bottle is a generic radiator overflow tank from Pep Boys. Cost a whopping $9.95.

How do you attach the pumps? They look like the original pumps?

I drilled two holes, inserted the pump seals, then inserted the pumps. Yes, they are the original pumps. Didn't use the one for the headlight washers, since they've been long gone.
