Which lasts longer in a Jerry can - and are there preservatives that keep them from breaking down? Are there methods of home-testing quality? How does the military stockpile fuel for months or years at a time? Thanks! -Eric |

Last winter there was a topic on this. I believe you can buy a product to keep it fresh over the winter. Do a search. |

I forget what the product is called but you can find it anywhere like Home Depot or Sears. I bought a new lawn mower a while back and it came with a small tube of the stuff. I am not sure on diesel, but gas begins to loose octane after a couple weeks |

It's called Sta-Bil...a small container treats something like 20 gallons OK for gas, gas/oil, diesel... |

If you want to keep diesel just buy some jet fuel, its the same stuff and jet fuel has all the extra stuff to prevent fungas growth and water build up. |
