Has anyone installed a Mantec snorkel along with a second battery in a D1? I already have the battery, and am curious about modifying the snorkel to enter side of the air box vs. the original intake. |

The ARB goes in the side of the airbox, already, and comes with everything you need to relocate the box and so on. It's a pain in the ass to fit compared with the Mantec, though. - Axel

I've seen the ARB's, and I'm keeping that as a second choice. Just don't like the look compared to the Mantec. I guess what I need to know from a Mantec owner is: Can the tube that runs inside the quarter panel be modified to allow an earlier entrance into the engine compartment? |

Mark, you can do what ever you wish with it. It just depends on how crafty and patient you are. I am running 2.5" black abs plastic from the airbox up and out below the winshield and up the the top with a Camel Trophy style snokel cap... (The round kind) This config works great and is very functional. After I hit the pipe and cap with liquid powdercoat it looks awesome... I would be happy to supply you with some pics and a price on the snokel cap if your interested just email me.. Just my .02 |

Mark, The Mantec metal tube in the fender ends right about where the airbox starts. A rubber hose (ala shopvac attachment) is then attached to it and continues to get routed to the 'recommended' hole towards the front of the inner fender. Having said that, you can possibly cut the rubber hose and make it come in to the side of the air filter box, but you gotta craft a plug of some sort to cover the trumphet outlet. Good luck! Mark, I read somewhere, maybe here, that you can order the ARB part and use it with the mantec snorkel. The ARB part I'm refering to is the part that connects to the side of the air box, like Axel refered to. www.4x4connection.com has a diagram on there website and I think they'd let you order the part seperately. I was considering doing this to free up the space in front of the airbox on my DI, for a second battery. After helping Glenn install his I decided to go ahead and do mine the same factory way. Real easy. Good Luck and Happy Holidays. One last tip, make sure you use sensor safe silicone. This info was given to Glenn, and passed on to me. Hope this helps. |

Thanks All! I had thought that the mantec was customisable, but wanted to make sure before spending the cash. Merry Christmas |
