Hey all, My pass. side rear door won't open from the outside so I got it all pulled apart but I can't seem to much else with it. I am afraid to start ripping apart the mechanism without knowing what I am doing and my manual doesn't seem to discuss it. Can anyone shed some light on this problem and a possible fix? Thanks! |

I had the same problem. It turned out to be the torque on the screws that hold the latch to the door. In the door jam. It took a few attempts but it works great now. |

Mike, too much or too little torque? What did you adjust to solve the problem? |

my front door did the same thing to me. if the back door is the same and i dont see y it would be different. there is a little bar that comes of the handle to the lach. pull the handle out and look for this little bar. when you move the handle you will see the bar move. some times the bar strechs a bit and it cant pull the lach enough. so you need to put a little bend in the bar to make it shorter. you can do this with it in the truck. just give it a bend with some pliers. i hope this helps |

my drivers side door will not open form the outside anymore. I checked for the little bar that justin was speaking of and i dont see it. Is it on the outside of the door ? or do i need to pull off the inside door panel? i can open the door form the inside but it makes noise sort of a plastic on plastic friction sound. one other thing is that is a little harder to lock and unlock the door using the key. i have to use a lot more torque to open it then i did before. any thoughts or similar experiences? |

Remove the door liner to find the internal components described above.

i pulled the panel off and found the thin metal bar that attaches the exterior door latch mechanism to the door clasp. i was all set to put a bend in it but on closer inspection i noticed that at the bottom of the bar there are adjustment threads. so all you need to do is detach the top part of the bar that has a 90 degree bend in it and turn it a few times to take up the slack. put the mechanism back together and yer done. very very simple. takes maybe 25 mins from before you take the interior trim panel off to the end of putting the trim back on. |
