Not a rover, but I finally broke down and got something for the ranch, with serious room and to tow a trailer.

I am so pleased with this truck. Power to spare and better milage than the Disco. Its a '97 F350 Crew Cab, Long Bed, 4x4 w/ the 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel engine.

I changed the oil yesterday. 2 quarts in the filter, 14 quarts total.

Nice Truck. My dad has a 2002 Lariat F350 Power Stroke Diesel. We had a Ford exactly like yours, except it had a 460. We wanted a diesel, so we sold it. I personally like the older body style, but the new ones are nice.

Congrats,

Matt

If money was not the issue, I'd have purchased one of the Kind Ranch versions w/ saddle leather interior. Damn nice, $50k is just silly though.

Cheers, Brian

That's nice. 7.3 Power Stroke is a great engine.
One question.
Do you think it's big enough?

...and will the 7.3 Power Stroke fit under your Disco's hood?

Brian,

I don't think you bought a big enough truck. There had to have been something bigger on the lot :-)

Mike,

Do you mean the engine or the vehicle?

;-)

Engine: never can be too big can it?

Vehicle: It can hold 6 adults, 4 easily on long trips. Full 8 foot bed allows for standard length building materials to be within the bed, not exposed to the elements. I'd say it is just big enough.

Despite its size, it is pretty quick. Very powerful and even pressing hard on the skinny peddle; the vehicle is getting better gas mileage than the Discovery. It might be able to tow the Disco and still get better mileage.

No kids get to drive this truck, especially parallel parking. ;-)

BTW, the vehicle's wheel base is about 14 ft, about the total length of my Disco Series 1, overall length about 22 ft.

This one is for sale and IS bigger.

I really hope that this truck works out for me long term. Everything about the vehicle is big and long. Think about the length of the rear drive shaft.

This will not see much in the way of aftermarket stuff. Maybe some safe performance mods and required accessories like bedliner and such.
