95 Disco. Rpm's reading at least what it should be but often bounces higher and back to normal. Plugged and unplugged the wire a few times behind the alternator in case of loose contact. Other connections at the alternator good. Still bounces. Battery voltage with truck off is 12.8. I want to check the voltage with the truck on. Do I simply measure at the battery terminals also? Should I expect to get a bouncing reading similar to the rpm bobing? No abnormal noise from alternator. I found in the archive a list of grounds to clean. Is the first step to remove the negative lead at the battery? Also, for the 95 Disco, is there a risk of triggering the SRS light by disconnecting the battery? Thank you. |

Yes SRS may trip. I had the same problem which was a failing and then seized alternator. Shop for a spare or rebuild kit. |

Would like to post the solution to my problem. It was only caused by loose tech connector at the alternator. Tightened up the connector and speedo fine again. |
