it's caused by tainted feed....why would it stop wheelin?

Yeah, I think your confusing Mad Cow Disease with Foot and Mouth Disease. They are two completely different things. Interesting article in any case.

Yep .. foot and mouth caused the closure of a lot of stuff all around Europe last summer.

I don't know about all you, but I usually eat steers, not milk cows...

...and Mad Cow doesn't affect the muscle, just the brain and nervous system. And I ain't eating those parts!
BTW It can take years before the animal shows signs. And it is not passed from cow to cow.

You would be suprised what gets thrown in the grinder at the meat plant. Ever get Ponhowse or Scraple? What about Beef Hot Dogs?

Dirty water dogs and Mystery Meat on a stick is part of a New York Lunch almost daily and, as long as your alcohol consumption is kept at a high rate, we're fine! Eat, drink, and be merry!

My Grandfather and my Uncle spent their entire working lives in the meat packing business. Working everything from the killing floor to the front sales office... for what its worth I have no problem eating choice cuts of red meat at any cooking level, but I won't eat a hamburger unless its nearly incinerated.

you must slaughter your own then ...because thats the only way to know what color the cow was

Actually, we do.

But the real dairy cows, like the one that was infected, aren't supposed to be eaten by humans - so if it got into the human food chain, it must have been a mistake, or someone pulling a fast one.
