Peter,

Another good site for background is:

http://www.landroverclub.net/Club/HTML/IndexCamel.htm

It's interesting that as soon as they change to the Honda the thing disappears. I guess they figured it wasn't the same without a Land Rover.

Also, with the move to the Honda CRV they probably thought that it would be the same as the Freelander, given the pedegree of the Freelander.

That just goes to show you what their marketing people knew. (before you jump on me, I too work in Marketing)

And by the way comparing the real camel with 2k or with G4 is like comparing the regiment with delta or seals

Forget all this new orange crap, I was driving down I-95 and came up on a 85 year old lady who could barely see over the wheel of a new Freelander G4.. Is this what we have been reduced to? Old ladies driving tupperware Rovers? I have the videos from 83 to 93 and they get worse over the years. Worse by less vehicle involvement and tooooo much f'ing kayaking and mountain biking... Back in day with RR's and SIII support vehicles it was the shit!

Just my .02 if you don't want forget it... :-)

Anyone know of a place to get (NTSC not PAL) CT Video's other than what AB sells? Preferably DVD's?

Forget Camel Trophy, Paris Dakar is the way you want to go.

Alan,

You're right. They only had VHS video.

The only DVDs that I have seen are PAL, And they look like great titles too. I wonder if there is a business in converting the DVDs to NTSC. It's not that hard, just time consuming.

Maybe the Discoweb people would be interested in taking it on.

I didn't think DVD's had the same issue with NTSC or PAL just region coding. Even if the DVD's are PAL I'm sure I can 'fix' that myself. Where did you see the DVD's? I'm looking for older '93 and older CT videos.

VRacer, Paris-Dakar is cool but not the same. And it's covered (limited) on US TV. Only a few more days 'till the next Paris-Dakar too. :-)

email me if you want videos... I have a ton of them and can make copies and work out a deal. I can convert to DVD as well.. BTW, DVD's don't use PAL or NTSC that is a VHS tape format issue...

Al,

I saw a bunch at a UK company:
http://www.dukevideo.com/search.asp?qu=camel+trophy&SGro_Code=&x=16&y=8

However I just noticed that they only had one CT DVD, everything was in VHS, but they did have them as far back as 1987

The title that they had in DVD was "CAMEL TROPHY THE LAND ROVER YEARS"

sorry to get your hopes up.

Jason: That's good to know. The info on the site listed the format as PAL DVD, so I didn't think to verify it.

Just get World Format 1 (DVD-9) and you should be fine in most players.

Jason,

You should keep your offers for pirating copyrighted material offline.

Cheers,
