Ashley,

It's because of you, and the many others over there, that my family and I can sleep in a safe place tonight, thank you.

Merry Christmas

Right on, like I said...thanks again for all of the support. Christmas day here is turning out to be alright. I slept in till 1030, which is about normal. Then we're going to do some secret santa, only it's things from local Iraqi's. There's no telling what I got. We're supposed to have Christmas dinner and then a patrol later tonight. So other than the patrol, not too bad. You guys wouldn't believe the amount of Series Rovers over here. It's unreal. Then D110 and RRC's would be a close second. I have some outstanding pictures that are waiting to be developed. I'll post them when I get home. Also, I'll put my address on here. My guys would get a kick form getting stuff from Landrover people. I'm always getting a hard time for my Rover obsession...they just don't get it. Merry Christmas to everyone. -Shugart

Ashley,

Consider it a done deal.

How about posting us a list of every single thing you hear today that starts with "I wish I had a __________".

Or better yet, ask your guys what they wish they had today? (It IS Christmas Day after all...)

We'll do our best to get out whatever you guys need asap :-) Jamie

p.s. Luv the profile pic - except for it kind of looks like you've lost one of your reindeer antlers (on your left) :-) :-) :-)

Hey guys. Will do on the list. I'm going to warn in advance that it could come back with some far out stuff, but we'll see. Everyone is getting tired of the usual(baby wipes, misc hygeine, sunflower seeds) Not that it's not needed. I'd ask for a freeze dried quarter pounder with cheese. However, tried that in Afghan...it didn't work out too well. By far the coolest thing to date was a pizza kit that my best friend back in Texas sent(owner of a 96 Disco1). It was as if Jesus came down and made the pizza. It was glorious.
As far as the Rover thing. Two guys have D90's and my old Lt. has a 97 Disco1. There's also a 95 RRc that's always around our Brigade HQ's. Not sure who's it is though. Other than that, no not really. My friends call my RRC "The Aquarium". But I never hear them complain when we're at the beach and the ladies are like, "Heyyy". It's the rover, you know. I'll get the list out as soon as possible. Thanks.
-Shugart

P.S. Jamie, It's a shotgun...not nearly as festive as antlers, I you could pretend.

What up Wag? I did get the package and it was out of control. You'll have to tell Aunt Cheryl big thanks from me. Roughly 50% was engulfed during the first day. I'm rationing out the hot beef jerky, being that it's a delicacy(?). Tell the entire Jones crew Merry Christmas from me. Be safe and talk to you sooner as opposed to later. -Ash

I was lucky enought to spend about 6 weeks skiing with 1 Bn. Brigade Nord in Asegarden near Harstaad in 82. What a beautiful country and great people.

That's the area I was stationed in. I was at Fort Skrolsvik, on Senja island outside of Harstad from fall of 79 to summer of 80. Fort Skrolsvik is closed down now, it was a "Guns of Navarone" type of installation, built by the Germans during WW2. These days the Coastal Artillery is more mobile and modern, using speedboats and mobile Hellfire batteries and such.

Hi Ashley,

I have been waiting for your grocery store wish list. I am thinking that it must be about time that your Christmas supplies must be getting low on extras - even if you have been rationing them.

I am getting package ready to ship out to you and will make another run to the grocery store first. If you send me list of what you and your freinds want, I will include it -- feel free to specify your favorite brands of foods, it won't take any extra effort to pick up your favorites :-)

You can email me a list or post it here - whatever is easiest for you. If I don't hear back in the next few days, I'll go ahead and ship out package.

Hope all is well with you, Jamie
