One of the few complaints about my 95 disco is that none of the washer pumps work. The windscreen, head lights and rear window washer pumps have not worked since I purchased the vehicle. My first thought was a common fuse or switch. I cant find any faults with these items. Ive removed the tank and all three motors and found one motor to have an open circuit. The other two have no activity when voltage is applied (as if theyre frozen). Something should have happened when applying 12 volts to the leads of each motor. So, it looks like all three are not functioning and need to be replaced. Im a bit surprised all three arent working but I guess the previous owner may have neglected to repair them as each stopped working. Are these something that must be purchased from the dealer or are there aftermarket washer pumps available? Are there any other parts I should replace at the same time (grommets, one way valves)?

You can get aftermarket washer kits (with inline pumps ) from pretty much any Autozone type shop. J C Whitney has 'em. About $12. You leave the stock pieces in place and mount the pump in line. There might be a simple fix for your washers, someone here will let you (us) know, i'm sure. |
