I'm wondering if my electical gremlins (See my previous posting of today "Turn Key No Power") on my 95' D1 are symptomatic of a alternator on it's last legs. Will T. responded that it might be the voltage regulator. If so it would seem to be wise to replace the altenator instead of just the voltage regulator. Does this approach seem reasonable as well as cost effective?....I found a re-built 100 amp. alternator for $200 at my imports parts store. The Rover dealer wants at least $100 just for the regulator. Are there any links or info on diagnosing a bad altenator and installation? Thxs. Gregg |

The regulator is built in to the alt and I've never heard of LR selling just the reg. Most people go thru a few rebuilts to get a good one (took me three tries. Some say just buy new OEM in a box. The problems will make you crazy. Joe |

What about a Mean Green. Are they worth putting on a Disco? Do they make one for a Disco? |

from thier website; "Mean Green manufactures all new high output alternators for AMC, Buick, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GMC, International, Jeep, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and many foreign applications." I guess you would need to contact them. Here's a link with the contact info at the bottom. http://www.mean-green.com/products/alternator.html |
