Should the odometer/trip recorder/gear indicator (on the instrument panel) be illuminated at night? Maybe I'm just losing my mind, but I'm almost positive that mine used to be illuminated at night. I've checked the dimmer switch, the owners manual, the RAVE disk, and my fuses. Everything else appears to be working ok and I've verified actual operation of everything except for Hill Descent Control. Fuse 27 (10 amps) is listed as "Instruments/Hill descent control". I don't know if that means it controls the actual act of braking during descent or if it just means that it only controls the illumination of the HDC(?). When I push the HDC switch, the light and warning sound does display illuminated on the instrument panel. Would someone please confirm if that area of my instrument panel should (or shouldn't) be illuminated? Thanks in advance, Jamie |

Thanks Lewis, Yes, as soon as it got dark here I did turn on the lights and checked it with the little wheel all the way to the left and all the way to the right. At least now I know that I haven't lost my mind! Thanks! Jamie |

Lewis, Thanks again. I just compared your pic with my instrument panel when lights are on. Everything is the same except for the illuminated lime green rectangle for odometer. According to page 1314 of RAVE, a photocell controls the illumination of the odometer LCD, maintaining contrast of the display during ambient light changes. Does anyone know what the photocell is or where it is located? I tried putting the word "photocell" into the RAVE search, and the only thing that came back was the exact same page mentioned above. Thanks again! Jamie |
