I just installed a cd player/speakers/amp in my 97 D1. After the install, both of my keyless entry fobs stopped working. I checked all the fuses and they turned out fine. I can still arm and disarm the alarm with the key. Nothing else has changed except the keyless entry no longer works. I think I may have knocked the remote aerial connection while running the new speaker wire. Problem is, the workshop manual just says its part of the fascia harness and does not show the location of it. I pulled the glove box off to look for loose connections but did'nt see anything strange. Anyone know the location of the remote locking aerial or have any suggestions? Thanks-Mark |

Same thing with me when I relocated the CD to the ceiling. They said the antenna is in the roof, and that if I had cut through the cable when I mounted the CD then I would be liable for all work done and it would not be guaranteed. So I told them I would check it out myself first to make sure I didn't do that. I have to use the key now, just like on a D1. Dammit! Let us know please what you find out. Dean |

Dean, I wonder if they are talking about the in glass antennas used by the factory radio. I only used one of them for my install. I found that the red labeled one did'nt work as good as the other one for some reason as far as reception goes. I have a bad feeling that the factory radio is somehow connected to the keyless system. If anyone installed a aftermarket system, and still has use of the keyless entry system let me know. Thanks-Mark |

I'm sure they were talking about the central locking (CL) antenna, the guy was pretty good and seemed to know what he was doing. He already replaced the CL receiver but that didn't make a difference. Ran out of time before the weekend so I brought it home and it still isn't working. I was getting a leaking water pump fixed and this was just an aside. Dean |

After taking the battery out of both fobs for a few seconds, both of the remotes now work. Funny thing is that when my battery died two years ago, I did'nt have any problems with the remote controls. Doing the radio install, I had the battery disconnected for a few seconds just to get the amp wire on and the remotes stopped working. Strange. |

Hi Jamie. They new system sounds much better than the stock setup it replaced. Its been one of the things that I wanted to replace but it did'nt rank high on the priority list - until the illumination on the stock radio started acting up. Between that and the crackly speakers, I just could'nt take it anymore. Hope to see ya on the trails one day - Mark |
