Hello all,

I've done a few searches on this topic but couldn't find any info relating to this question, so pardon if this is a repeat.

I'm looking for a good set of shocks and possibly springs that will raise my D1 up about an inch or so. I'm not looking to run bigger tires, but I would like a slightly more aggressive stance. Is there anything out there that won't cause premature wear to my drivetrain without having to spend a mint?

Thanks for any advice.

-Shannon

Used Range Rover classic rears in front and OME MD rears used is nice. I had something similar on my 96 (had custom rears but they were close to OME MD) and it was the smoothest riding lifted DI out there.

Total cost was about $60 for the rears.

Stock shocks are fine if they are not shot until you make up your mind. OME and bilstien make nice shocks, but IMHO it is not worth an upgrade unless you are going to longer shocks. Although they are prone to fade, the woodheads that come stock give the best (most compliant) ride.

PS flame away!

No flames from me.. I got a 97 d1 with over 100k miles, original springs, 4 leaky shocks, I just threw out the steering damper, 'cause it was so mangled it was catching on my bent drag link, and the ride is pretty OK.

You can use the following combination from Old Man Emu:
- Front Springs: Part No. OME761
- Front Shocks: Part No. N115 (If you prefer softer shocks, use N45F)
- Rear Springs: Part No. OME764
- Rear Shocks: Part No. N46 (If you prefer softer shocks, use N27)

This combination will provide you with 30mm of lift in the front and 40 mm of lift in the rear.
