Does anyone know of an effective way to keep the exhaust manifold bolts tight? Both the manifold to cylinder head bolts and manifold to downpipe bolts repeatedly come loose. I've even added lock washers and high temperature lock tight, but they keep coming loose! Thanx for any tips... |

you could switch to a header bolt that has a locking tab on it. some designs have a wedge witha c-clip to keep it situated. and i do believe that the ex bolts are 3/8 coarse thread. so not a big deal to swap over. Chevy has used locking tabs forever on exhaust bolts, just a piece of metal bent over the shoulder very simple and effective. |

The other way would be to wire them in - using locking wire. Jeff |

For the downpipe switch to a headed bolt and add double nuts!!! Or a retaining washer so the nut does not come off!! |

Switch to D2 hardware for manifold-to-head connection - much improved. If this doesn't loosen, then the three bolt collector flange is also somewhat less likely to. Bill |

You must use the Locking Plates to secure your exhaust maniflold bolts to the cylinder heads. Land Rover part No. ERC7321. You will need 4 locking plates on each side of the engine. Tarek |

Thanx for the suggestions everyone. Bill, how did the hardware change for the DII? Did they go to studs and nuts, or do they have a locking mechanism? Thanx All... |
