I have a southdown rear diff protector, but I've misplaced the two bolts that secure it to the diff. Does anyone have the proper bolt dimension?

Mark,

If you tell me what to look for, I will get under my truck tomorrow and measure it.

Maybe this will help? I just pulled out the instructions, it says:

TOOLS NEEDED: 9/16" wrench/socket, 7/32" Allen
TORQUE VALUE: 40 Ft./lbs

Let me know if you want me to measure.

Good Luck, Jamie

Mark:

I'll unbolt mine in the morning if no one replies to you by then. I think it is a 10 150 "think", but I'll pull it in the morning to confirm.

Thanks Bill,

It's probably a much better idea for you to do that instead of me!!
Who knows what I might manage to break in the process! :-)

Thanks Bill, I just picked up my XD and I have most of my gear from a 90 I sold a few years back, but those bolts grew feet.

THEY ARE NOT METRIC OR SAE

They are witworth. Call the dealer or RN and get them. Otherwise you are SOL as you will never find any.

Hey Mark:

I looked under my rig because I was curious after reading Ron's post. The two bolts that bolt the diff guard to the diff in my rig are the factory bolts that hold on the harmonic balancer.

You don't have your year rig in your profile page, so maybe you do not have the harmonic balancer?

You are correct Bill, however, you need two sets, one for the front and one for the rear.

DIs do not have harmonic balancers in the rear.

So I didn't know what a Whitworth bolt was, so I looked it up.

Interesting little read for those who like this sort of thing: http://www.landroverclub.net/Club/HTML/Whitworth_BSF_BA.htm

I am not sure if DIIs have witworth or not, I know the DIs do.

I too went under my wifes Disco and saw the balancer and even removed one of the bolts to determine it's not the correct one. Like Ran said the XD did not have the balancer and neither did either one of my 90s'. But thanks Bill you did answer what that thing was...
