I've recently been competing with a co-worker who has a 97 Jeep Wrangler to see who can park at a more obnoxious angle on the rock-hard snow bank outside our office. I'm holding my own pretty well (other than the limited approach/departure angle due to the stock front bumper/valance), but have found that when parked at a steep side angle (ie. both passenger-side wheels high, both driver wheels low) that I have a hard time starting the engine after it's sat for a couple hours. When parked relatively flat I have no starting problems whatsoever (even in 0-degree weather). I've got 3/4 tank gas so I'm sure it's not fuel starvation from the pickup. Any ideas? I'd be pretty embarassed if the Jeep guy had to help me push my truck off the snowbank just so I could start it Thanks! Mike g. |

how much of a side angle? you could be getting oil past the rings causing one whole cylinder bank to get fouled with oil.

I'd say the right-side tires were about 16-18 inches higer than the left-side. Nothing really severe. |

Have you checked the fuel pressure? This can be done at the shraeder valve on the fuel rail. No guarantees but just a thought. |

Any chance that you are using a non-Rover ignition coil?? Aftermarket coils work fine for a few months. Then you start having problems when the truck is at odd angles(off-pavement). Next problem will be that engine dies on right turns(same effect as pass side higher than drivers side). Solution: use Lucas or Bosch coil which is made for LR |

Dude, 16-18 inches? Get that truck up higher! It's not starting because it's embarrassed! If it ain't almost rollin' over, it ain't at enough of an angle... Maybe try alternating sides, that is, one day make it right-side high, then left-side high the next?
