I have a 94 DIS. under the passenger side is a code "14" anyone knows what this stands for? I thought of cleaning my fuel ejectors with some over the counter additives to improve mileage but consulted dealer to see if they would do it. They stated they never need to be cleaned and not to use additives. Has anyone used them and what's your results? especially " dry out" for water condensation in the gas tank? Thanks |

code 14 is coolant temp sensor fault There are probably a few good fuel system cleaners available. Eventually it is better to take the injectors to a Bosch fuel inj service shop. Look in yellow pages. |

How many miles on your engine? If you have rarely changed the filter and/or have, say, in excess of 140K miles on the engine - check the injectors. Go to a Bosch DEISEL injection service center. I had 165K on the engine, had the injectors checked and ended up buying all new ones. Mine were way out of spec when they did the volumne/minute test. I got the injectors for $42 ea. + seals. |

Thanks Randall for your responce to my code question. Eric, I have 115K miles on my engine. What effect did you experience prior to replacing all your injectors? I normally get about 11-12 mile per gallon in the city and about 15-16 on the highway. I know the norm should be 14 miles per in the city. The bottom line is, I've been experiencing a suddent lost of power shortly after starting the veh and driving. When the veh is hot then all is well but when cold- not a good experience. I changed my spark plug and all was well until recently again. I'm trying to fig if my ejectors are contributing to this as well as to the low mileage. |

Trevino The coolant temp sensors job is to modify the fuel map when the engine is cold. That is the code you have, and that is the symptom as well. Fortunately that sensor is cheap and easy to replace or test. |

Well, I think my freeway milage was around 13.5 mpg best. But, I've got a roof-rack w/tire and 3" OME lift. Still, that's nowhere near 15-16. Your injectors are prolly O.K. - take the advice of "Mr. Smith", for now. Right, Neo? |

Thanks for your advise. Where is the coolant temp sensor located? Is this a no brainer job? |
