The only time I've ever been this pleased with a vehicle purchase was when I bought a 71 Dodge Challenger covertable. Very, very nice ride. Best riding SUV I've ever owned (also own a 89 Cherokee, and used to own a 88 Samurai.)

96 Discovery, 3.9, A/T, 125K miles

Only fault I've found so far is the cruise control, and I've looked at the various postings about fixing that. Will be going through it tomorrow to see what it might be.

What's the best manual out there for it? Is there a factory service manual available?

First mods are going to be sway-bar disconnects, and skid plating. Other than that I think I'll be keeping it as close to stock as possible.

Good luck in fixing the CC, mine has been broken for ever and I can't get it to work.

I know Atlantic British sells the manuals, because I got mine from them. Many of the other vendors liosted on the vendor page probably carry it, too.

Congrats on you Rover purchase. I bought a '95 Disco in July and have been VERY happy with it. No big issues just a few small electric bugs that I've almost worked out. Take care of it and you should get a long life out of it.

Just out of curiousity what's wrong with the cruise?

I'm sure you're aware the buttons on the steering wheel are pushed from behind...and that the switch on the panel has to be pushed in (the one that looks like a skateboard)...

Push the button in, the button lights up (no noise)

Push the buttons on the steering wheel, it doesn't hold speed.

Keith, try cleaning the vacuum lines. I'm almost positive that is just the case. Good luck!

Keith, you might want to cut the air-dam, send me an e-mail man if you want some help with it, I am kinda bored. It is easy to do, but you might want to cut instead of taking off. Those are sharp corners!

Keith, track the airlines that go into the cruise control mechanism that is right on the firewall, drivers side. I bet it's a cracked airline. Happened to me many times. Easy fix.

I had a thin split behine the vac line and did not notice untill I really inspected them from all sides end to end. it just take one small leak and your our of a cc system. good luck tracking it.

Keith, I see you stated that you pushed the buttons on the steering wheel, not to sound like I am being a pain, but the the buttons on the steering wheel should be slightly pulled, not pushed...

I am sure you are doing it correctly, but just want to make sure.

To operate
1. Press the master switch on the fascia panel (arrowed in illustration) the switch symbol glows whenever the switch is pressed to the ’on’ position.
2. Accelerate until the desired cruising speed is reached. This must be above the system’s operational minimum speed of 45 km/ h (28 mph).

3. Press the ’SET +’ switch to set the vehicle speed in the system’s memory. Cruise control will now maintain that road speed without the need for operation of the accelerator pedal. With cruise control operating, speed can be increased temporarily, e. g. for overtaking, by normal use of the accelerator. When the accelerator is released, road speed will return to the selected cruising speed.

To reduce the cruising speed:
Press the ’RES -’ switch, or use the brakes to slow the vehicle, until the required speed has been reached. Then press the ’SET +’ switch to establish the new cruising speed (remember that cruise control will not operate at speeds below 45 km/ h (28 mph).

To increase the set cruising speed:
Press and hold the ’SET +’ switch - the vehicle will accelerate automatically. Release the switch as soon as the desired speed has been reached. Alternatively, the set speed can be increased incrementally by ’tapping’ the ’SET +’ switch. For each five taps the speed will increase by 8 km/ h (5 mph). Disengaging cruise control The cruise control will automatically disengage if the brake or clutch pedals are pressed, or when the gear lever is moved into
neutral (selector position ’N’ for automatic gearbox). To re- engage cruise control at the previously set speed, press the ’RES -’ switch.

NOTE: The speed held in the cruise control memory will be cancelled when either the cruise control master switch or the starter switch is turned off.
