i have a 95d1 and was wondering what year buick has the 3.9L engine and can use mostly the same wires

No Buick had the 3.9. The 3.9 is an evolution of an engine that GM used in the early '60's for a couple years, but the beancounters at GM didn't like the production cost. Rover bought the rights to it in the late 60's and put it in the newly introduced 1970 Range Rover, as the 3.5.
Bosch makes a nice set of wires for our engine.
