You are seeing things Jamie.

No, just jokin, that thing is pretty crazy looking though.

What I would like to know is, why are you on a JEEP club sight, HHHHMMMMMMMM?

No, I don't have anythings against jeeps. My dad used to own one, and I liked it.

I am lonely and need some TRAIL BUDDIES!!

Really, I have been trying to find freinds who off road and are willing to go out on trail rides. There have been so many links in these threads where the poster refers readers to their club website to see something. I can't imagine what it must be like to have an active club.

The only active clubs I can find are jeepers. They have regular get togethers, monthly campouts, and at least one good long weekend trail ride to new places each month. They usually get at least 1 or 2 heavy trucks that go along, so that would be good if I need to be recovered. Also feel more confident going out with jeeps since I can do self recovery.

I NEVER see off road rovers around here (except for mine) Jeeps and I always wave as we pass each other - probably like those of you who wave to other rover off roaders.

So, I'm just lookin' around for a tribe that will accept me :-) :-) Geez, I'm even willing to join a "bubba" group if I find one!! :-)

Wasn't that thing neat?? I went there twice and just played with it for awhile. LOL :-)

You've got a snorkel right? (That is your white truck right, on your profile?) If you ever come up to Joisey, let us know, we can arrange something 'interesting!'.....

Dean :-)

Jamie,
I know exactly how you feel. I see a modified disco as often as I see a falling star during the day. There aren't many if any rovers that go wheelin where I live either. 90% of the time when I see a disco a women is driving it. I think you should come to NV, and show these ladies that it's OK to get their nails a little dirty. They all seem like "rich little girls" going shopping at the mall. Now when I see the guys, they just stare and do nothing, but sometimes I'll get a wave or two.

I did run into a guy ONCE with a modified disco. He had $G bumper, roof rack, sliders, etc... I went up to him and said hi, and how I liked his setup. He looked at me and said, "yes, dis car iz very good. My son give me in San Fransico. I heard very good off-road." I don't know if you can tell, but he barely spoke english at all.

Jamie - one word - "move". Go to Four Corners area - your dogs will thank you, Rover will see move trails you can shake stick at, and you can find plenty of people to go on trails with :-)

Or move out here! These Southern California mountains have some of the best trails anywhere, and an active Land Rover club (see www.sclr.org.) And Safari Gard's just down the road, for what it's worth.

In certain areas of the country, Rovers are plentiful! On my cross country drives, it seems as if every other car is a rover (defender, disco, rangie) - along I-70 from the Rockies through the east side of Denver. From the Colorado state line to VA, I usually spot just one or two.

Nothing wrong with Jeeps either, and I think you've got the right attitude - it's all good.

Matthew, do you live in Las Vegas or Reno? If Las Vegas, then you need to join the Las Vegas Land Rover Club. They have an active group and they plan outings monthly. Their website: www.lrclv.com.

Thanks Chris, but I live in Reno. I wish we had a LR club here.

(1) That's a neat app, although I thought all of you were hallucinating -- then I switched from Mozilla back to IE and saw...

(2) Jamie, try "general" 4x4 clubs too -- that's put me in touch with people here in Wisconsin. And you'll get to impress those Bronc and Scout and pickup drivers with your "snob mobile." :-)

Thanks guys,

Months ago I bought this humongous land map of the US at Barnes and Nobel. I plastered it right in front of my desk. Also got the erasable markers that you can write on it with, but I haven't done that yet. But, I do look at my map day-dreaming and planning everyday!!

Having spent the entire day with Garmin uploading and downloading, I think I'm one step closer to actually getting there anyway. Soon all my mapping software should be interacting like it is supposed to do (which means I will actually end up where I ended to arrive from now on??) With any luck, my topo and street maps will peacefully coexist together in maps. My skills defenitely do not peak in the area of land navigation.

If I find someplace I like better, I will move. I'm not too sure about snow though - I'm quite intimidated by those prospects. In Florida we have swamps and mud. Off roading is somewhat of a "stop stuck" and "get out and go" operation. Including a significant amount of trail damage, which guys seem to not mind because they can work on their ouchied trucks when they get home (maybe that just prolongs their off road adventure back in their driveways?).

Andy, no one is too impressed with my snob mobile, especially since I'm in it. Most times I just can't get out of my own way - but, that's good for the purpose of amusement I suppose :-)

I just think the mouse at that site is just way too cool. I like it because it is fluid, kind of relaxing to watch - like when hundreds of birds are migrating down this way -- they look like that mouse the way they swoop around in every direction while remaining in formation.

Oh well, simple minds are easily amused!! :-)
