On my 1997 Discovery, I have a noticeable clicking sound coming from the right bank. It sounds almost like something is blocking an air intake, but the air intake is on the other side of the engine. I thought it might be the plugs, so I changed those and the wires are pretty new. The sound only comes under mid to heavy acceleration. Any suggestions?

Valves or fuel injectors. Hope for the latter!

I had the same problem in my 97 D1. Turned out to be the tappets. i had a top end re-build done, (80Kmiles), now it runs smooth as a baby.

lifter in american

My guess would be an exhaust leak. There was something recently on here about cracking 97 exhasut manifolds but I forget which side.

Could also be rocker shaft. That side is really easy to change.

If you only hear it when putting the gas on it is most likely an exhaust leak.
Tappets noise will be there all the time.
