On my 1997 Discovery, I have a noticeable clicking sound coming from the right bank. It sounds almost like something is blocking an air intake, but the air intake is on the other side of the engine. I thought it might be the plugs, so I changed those and the wires are pretty new. The sound only comes under mid to heavy acceleration. Any suggestions? |

I had the same problem in my 97 D1. Turned out to be the tappets. i had a top end re-build done, (80Kmiles), now it runs smooth as a baby. |

lifter in american My guess would be an exhaust leak. There was something recently on here about cracking 97 exhasut manifolds but I forget which side. Could also be rocker shaft. That side is really easy to change. |

If you only hear it when putting the gas on it is most likely an exhaust leak. Tappets noise will be there all the time. bazzle |
