I've just ordered a safari gard front bumper with a Superwinch Husky10,000 winch among other things, and i don't know what kind of battery i should run it from or if i can get hold of a heavy duty alternator to handle it as well as 2 Hella 5000's. Can anyone shed some light on my situation? |

I'd run either one or two yellow top Optimas. Here's a brief article about them: http://www.expeditionexchange.com/optima/ -- Bill Mallin Web Dood Houston Land Rover Club http://www.houstonlandroverclub.com |

Try a search for "dual-battery install". We discussed this awhile back and Jamie (Rover Puppy) posted some nice pictures of a dual-battery install on a D2.

Dude, if you have to winch with the lights on, the last worry will be the battery - LOL, you'll be checking beer first I would guess. I use 2 yellow tops and they'll run down if the winching is bad enough. I have an ARB bumper and Warn but I think you made the better choice with the SG - some will give you shit for it, but I wish I had the better appraoch the SG gives - you'll be smiling out there...you dont have to have 2 batteries - its nice, but if you winch responsibly there wont be more than the normal complete drain of the system!! 2 batteries just means you get to be an idiot longer, like me. Then your buddies will get you out, just like that.
