When driving on a gravel road, the hazards of my Disco (98 model) go off. The only way to switch them off is by switching of the engine. This also happens to the Disco of a friend of mine (96 model). Has anybody experienced a problem like this before? Thanks

the relay box for your hazards is in the PS kick panel. mine has rattled loose, and when it falls to the floor, it causes flashing. i resucured it up into the space behind the dash and it seems the problem is solved.
good luck,
cheers,
carl

ALSO if the road is very rough the hazards are flashing because a sensor thinks you've been in an accident and it turns on the hazards.

Tassos,

I have had that happen, but only after a very hard impact while off road (dropping off a rock 45cm). I've driven on many gravel roads and not had this problem.

I think the shock that would cause this is sensed by the inertia switch on the firewall in the engine compartment, near the washer reservoir in my '98. There is a round rubber top on it.

I don't know if there is a way to adjust them. Maybe someone with the service manual might know.

I've had it happen on 6" wash board forest service roads doing 15 mph. And the inertia switch is what I'm talking about just could not think of the name.
