I was wandering what everybody thinks the best front bumper is TJM vs ARB vs SafariGard vs Rovertym.

rovertym full brush Bar. ARB blows TJM is similar and $G would take you about 4 months to get a freaking bumper.

The Rovertym front bumper with A bar is my personal favorite. NICE and slim...Also nice finish and touch.

Basically, your call on the A-bar, full brush bar, or just the blade even. But RTE is going to be your best option.

Also check out Aedofab (www.aedofab.com)
Newer company that is putting out nice stuff for Rovers. No personal experience.

For non-airbag certified bumpers, Rovertym seems to be the most popular.

For airbag certified bumpers, TJM is the best choice.

I've got an ARB. Although I wouldn't exactly say it's a POS. There are things I like about it and things I don't.

I like that fact that it weighs about 150 lbs. It's a massive hunk of metal on the front of my Rover. Should a water buffalo happen to jump in front of the vehicle I'm pretty sure I'll survive. I also like the way it looks - very serious.

I don't like that fact that I have a 3" lift with 265/75 tires and my approach angle is just slightly worse than it was completely stock. Yes, I said "worse." You do the math, this thing sticks way the hell out in front of the vehicle.

If anyone wants to buy it let me know. When I have the money I'll probably get a RTE like the cool kids have. After all, we don't have many water buffalo here in East Tennessee.

That was a really long way to say that I agree with the other posts, wasn't it?

I had an ARB and wasn't too impressed.

I now have an RTE with full brush bar it's very stout. The only thing I'm not thrilled with is some of the compromises I had to make with the particular winch I chose (Ramsey RE12000).

Sacrifices with a RE12000?

And CALM, I do agree Rockware puts out nice stuff, but its my understanding that Disco bumpers from them are custom only and involve your truck having to go there? Could be wrong.

Yes, the disco bumper is custom and you have to go there, but he is close enough, SC to CO. Its not that far :-)

I have had an ARB for a number of years and can see nothing wrong with it.
If I needed a speciality one to climb Big rocks I suppose I could get another brand but for the road and bush the ARB is good.

That's exactly it Bazzle. It's not how the bumper looks, but how it preforms for your needs.

Clif-

The RE12000 is a worm gear drive winch and has a rather large bottom end. Thus, the bumper sits out farther than I would like. In order to mount it closer requires moving my trans cooler lines, etc.

However, bumper sits high enough that I still have a much better approach angle than with the ARB.

John and Steve at RTE said they have only made a couple RE12000 bumpers including mine.

I've never posted pics but if you're interested I could do so if someone would tell me how.

Function over form Chris, Function over form. The fact that Rovers look cool with bumpers, rack, etc..., is just a little extra bonus.

The one on the left "looks" pretty good to me:-)
Is it also yours, or a friends?

I know it may be cheap, but I truely vouch for mine...had to DOUBLE snatch block on the 27th on a snow trail, and the thing did its job GREAT.
I also had a minor accident on the road with those HUGE Simexs' crappy wet tarmac traction, and the thing won fair and square - only needed rattle can spray at 2$ a can :-).
At 180$ cost of Material, and 2 days from nothing to mounted, I really like it. It is ugly, I agree, but the WHOLE winch/bumper assembly is <80kgs (M8274-50 with rope and alum. fairlead)

Greg-

So what I get from what you said is that you dont like the decreased approach angle and the mess of moving the trans lines with the RE12000.

That makes sense.

When you put that originally, I misunderstood, because the RE is one hell of a winch.

The fact that ARB weights 150 lbs is not a plus it is a minus. 150 lbs is nothing and I have seen the ARB destroyed when really "used" hard.

I went rockware. It is truely bullet proof.

Matt will do almost any kind of bumper you want. Low profile with really good approach/departure angles or armor like mine.
