I ordered them from atlantic british and installed in the front. After installing I noticed they make a clicking noise at any speed. Does anyone have the same problem. Otherwise they are great rotors and don´t sqeel after 4-wheeling.

I'm almost in need of new rotors and was wondering:

How do they stop your rig?

Has the breaking improved? A tad, noticeably, considerably, it's a 911?

I'm not sure what the clicking noise is.

Yeh they are an improvement from stock. I would definitly buy the dba´s though. I like the slotted/cross drilled because they don´t sqeek after you go 4-wheeling like the famous land rover ones.

I've got the slotted/drilled rotors on the front from AB also. no noise whatsoever. Put new ferodo pads on at the same time. Put them on about a month ago. They do definitely seem to be an improvement, however, I'm not sure if that's because of the rotors, or because I was use to driving on wafer thin pads... :-)

Is anyone running DBAs with LR stock pads on a DII?

I'm wondering if there have been any issues with our three favorite orange lights on the dash?

I'd love to know someone is (has been) running this configuration without any issues? Or if there are issues?

Bill,

I previously had a set of DBA's, cross-drilled and slotted, on the front and back of my D2, but I can't remember what pads came with them (they weren't LR pads). No problems whatsoever. I recently had to replace the front rotors due to warping, which I thought the cross-drilled rotors would help. It might have slowed it down, but they still warped (I'm in SA, live in Blanco - pulling a trailer frequently through the Hill Country takes it's toll). The guy at AB talked me into front rotors by, I think, EBC (or EBD, something like that) along with the same brand pads. These rotors are slotted, but instead of cross-drilled, they are dimpled. He swore by them, so I ordered a set for the front. He wasn't kidding, these things work great. I haven't had any problems whatsoever, just a strange "turbine shutting down" noise when I make a rapid stop, which has subsided quite a bit now that the pads are bedded in. I would highly recommend them. I'll be switching to these on the rear in the near future.

Ron:

Better stopping than stock? I guess the question should really be: "is it worth the extra coin to go with DBAs?" I'm more interested in better stopping; though, longer life from the rotors would be a plus.

Sorry man.... I thought you already had them. Significant improvement over the factory rotors. I am getting better/even pad wear, less dust on wheels. No fade on long descents. Better response when ETC is activated. For me it was an easy choice, my front factory rotors needed to be replaced, and the rears were border-line, so the cost was definitely justified.

To answer- "is it worth the extra coin to go with DBAs?"

You will figure that out within the first couple times of stopping. Less distance, less pedal. You will be convinced the first time you have to slam on your brakes.

From my experience with autocrossing (not my Disco), slotted/cross-drilled rotors aren't more reliable than a high quality solid rotor. the slotted/cross-drilled thing stems from the tendency of old racing pads to give off gasses. With the technology of newer pads, gas expulsion isn't really an issue anymore. Cross drilled/slotted rotors are more-or-less a cosmetic addition now-a-days. On the track, a cross-drilled rotor will wear out about twice as fast (or quicker) than a good quality solid rotor. I would assume the same for street use given both are of similar quality.

My advice is to get a good HIGH quality solid rotor.
