Hello,

I went down to my Disco yesterday and discovered a water puddle under the front. It hadn't rained, so I popped the hood and found that the weap hole on the water pump was dripping. I wiggled the fan, and the bearing is bad too. I ordered one that should be here Tuesday.

Well my roommate is gone for the holidays, and the Aggie busses don't run again until 20th, so if I carry water and watch the temp can I use my car to go to work on Monday, or am I going to throw the fan into the radiator?

Thanks

BJ

My water pump began making noise about 10 miles from my house. I thought, well, I can make it home.. MISTAHHHKE! 2 miles down the road it seized up and dumped the coolant all over some nice business parks parking lot. Ended up waiting 3 hours on a tow truck, would have been better off to call in the first place. I was in a pinch and had to purchase the water pump from the dealer, hopefully you can call Nathan and wait a few days. Good luck to ya, Don't drive it.

OOoooh risky! If its just dripping slowly even when its hot, take a few extra gallons of coolant and keep fingers crossed. My water pump was leaking, oh I dunno maybe a few ml a second under pressure test, but it managed to drive the 15 miles to work without loosing much.

You can guage the water lever by waiting for the heater blower to stop blowing hot. At that point the coolant is lower than the heater matrix pipe and its time to add more.

if the bearing is going bad, then you don't have to worry about the pump leaking so much as the belt and ancilliaries being able to be run. my pump went bad, didn't leak at all, but the bearings went bad, pulley was flopping all over, and engine was just barely running as I limped it home. ordered from DAP, overnighted, for $150 delivered.
