I backed over a huge chunk of ice in the parking lot at home depot not twenty minutes ago. Got out and looked and it smashed the front left plastic piece (right under the fog lamp) and shattered the fog lamp. After looking at it closer when I got home, I realized this entire front bumper is one peice of plastic. Feeling pretty dumb about now. I had planned on upgrading bumpers sometime in the future, but it looks like now I'll be doing it sooner than later. Just wondering if anyone has any strong reasons to buy either ARB over TJM or vice versa. I've looked at both and am leaning towards TJM, but there seems to be more ARB's on the road. I like the handyman jack points on the TJM, and the washer fluid jets. Just wondering if anyone has any horror stories one way or the other. Thanks for any input. |

Install a TJM aluminium front bumper. It seems you have the standard lift and stock Land Rover suspension. That way you will not add extra weight on your stock front suspension. ARB only manaufactures steel bumbers and they are very heavy and with stock suspension the Discovery will lean forwards. I have an aluminum TJM front bumper and it is very rigid. |

Nathan, I currently have an ARB winch bumper and it is awesome. Both brands are very good quality and serve the same purpose of protection and good looks. My DI is in the shop because 2 months ago I was rear ended at a stop light at 50+mph by some 16 yr. old punk. My rover flew and pulverized and acura integra in front of me and hardly any evident damage to my ARB. Now that is tough. It paid for itself already besides off the trail. Now I am having a TJM installed and it is base solely on looks and choice. I also believe the winch location on the TJM is slightly higher than the ARB. Check out the pics on EE and other peoples cars and decide which one looks cooler to you. Good luck. Ed |
