I was looking at the slide show on MSNBC of the Detroit car show.... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3861002/ Ford's gone retro this year. I like the new Mustang, and the Bronco is reminiscent of the original... I'm not too fond of it, but, it could be worse. Chrysler's 248mph M Four-Twelve looks the part, "it's not my bag, baby"..... The thing that struck me, though, were the Jeeps.... One, the Rescue, is just a huge monster. The other, though...... Well.... I really am starting to like the new Disco more, if Jeep is really gonna come out with something like the Treo....
Yep, makes the Disco-Element look pretty good... -L

The Bronco reminded me of the Toyota Land Cruiser concept that came out last year.... a little bit retro, a little bit futuristic.... where are the Osmonds when you need 'em? It wasn't bad, not like this Jeep-egg-thing, that's for sure.... I suppose it's because, as my wife says, I have "a fondness for old ugly 4x4s".... Series Rovers, Willys, Cornbinders, FSJs, the original Broncos, FJ-40s, the old Patrols, Austin Gypsies, etc. etc. etc. I could get used to it. It's just a bit too "new" yet.... kinda like when the Ram-truck first came out, I thought it was hideous. Now, it's fine.... you grow accustomed to things. Plus, tastes change over time. I used to hate old Volvos, but then one day, I suddeenly found that I appreciated the ol' buggers for some daft reason.... Sometime, compare a '49 Tickford Series Rover to a '49 Willys Wagon. -L

Amen, Leslie...it's something I've noticed in myself too -- suddenly you find yourself thinking "You know, as ugly and stupid as I once thought Volvos (or Scouts, or Broncs, or Willys, or Series Rovers, etc.) were, I kinda like 'em now." And then 10 minutes later you DO like 'em. I'm getting old....no more flashy sports cars for me -- gimme a nice XKE or MGB instead...

LOL- Nice GAZ 69 Peter! The tasteful Xmas lights and quality bull bar are nice additions. Is that a Lada Niva next to it? |

That bull bar... I thought I'd puke on it. The little thing was sitting next to a casino - the hard top is also not a stock item. Other than that, I'd take it gladly! next to it is a Lada 2101, clone of 1965 Fiat 124. |
