http://www.rangestormer.com/

i don't know if anyone else has heard of it...
i'm not greatly impressed but thats probably just because i want a basic disco or defender with a diesel...
not some range rover / X5 cross over... which is funny/odd cuz Ford owns them now...

I just hope when the time comes to buying my next rover (defender), I can find a decent one. If they keep building new LR's like that one, then there's no way I'll buy.

Every new car has to be based on some new "futuristic" design.

Why can't Land Rover or Ford for that matter just look at the continued success of the Jeep Wrangler? Just make 1 Rover that is simple and under $30 grand and it will sell. Go ahead and cater to the soccer moms but they could also cater to rich college and high school kids with a Defender.

I just took another look at it and where are the door handles? Could you imagine an electrical failure fix on that one?

Have you seen the new concept Jeep Rescue? It seems to me like it's a blatant jab at Hummer over the grill-seven bar issue.

They still do...just not here in the states anymore. We're deprived.

I actually dig that Range Stormer, just wouldn't use it on the trails that's all. Although, providing all the gizmos work properly, I'd bet anything it could slap any of the other Rovers ever produced on the trails like ten dollar whores!

ever since I bought the 95 LWB, I found myself partial to bling. So, I really liked the exterior of the RangeStormer (the name's as stupid as it gets), and it looks a bit like a 2-door old Rangie.

... and I like the Jeep Rescue concept. I don't think it's a blatant job on a Hummer or not (H2 is a blatant job on itself), it looks more like WW2 Dodge ambulance/recon wagon. Judging by the size of the concept, it's got to have at least D44 front and D60 rear (if not 60/70).

Actually, I am amazed that there is A LOT of vehicles that I like! That Dodge Magnum station wagon is pretty cool, too.

The Range Stormer looks too much like an Isuzu Axiom for me. Plus the name is mucho cheesy.

http://www.thelandroverchronicle.com/new_page_595.htm has some additional info. The crap about "you select the terrain, and we'll select the driving mode" infuriates me. Are we all just a bunch of idiots, that we can't even drive for ourselves?

Scion xB Release Series 1.0, now there is a stylish car. Sheesh what the hell were they thinking?

Not many concepts make it to production and if they do they usually are vastly different than a concept. Two that I actually got to be a part of the design on were the viper and stealth.

I like the little stormies. Nice roof and the bigass front end is cool. I agree looks a bit like the old 2 door rangies.

They sell like hotcakes if they ever made it to production.

Oh, I just went to the day 3 pics. Man is that PT Cruiser Convert butt ugly.

Then went on and there is the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I'd say Jeep is picking some good names for the Wranglers these days with Unlimited and Rubicon.

You know, a few inches more and it could've been Scrambler. Not a bad name, too.

Last night, I saw a lone white brand new RR on a parking lot, and tried to imagine it chopped down and with only 2 doors. Wouldn't hurt it!

"The design is peppered with interesting and practical ideas. The doors are a two-piece type: the upper half hinging up and forwards, while the lower half drops to provide a step to the cabin. The doors are electrically powered.

The two-piece tailgate is electric, the upper half lifting and the lower dropping behind the bumper to give optimised access into the loadspace.

Floor compartments rise and lower electrically for improved additional stowage. Fitted leather 'his and her' bags are also neatly incorporated into the side walls.'"

Electric opening doors, "his and her" bags!

You've got to be kidding me.

RE:Landrovers Chief out in Beutiful California.......I am
not sure I should say this guys name but I will MR BILL
BAKER His tel# at work that is 949-341-6800 leave a message, because you wont get him...this is the guy they call the" rubber tree" in the auto biz...anyway

I have called this "rubber tree of a man" many ,many ,times in the past 5 yrs...anyway what I am getting at is this the few times I have talked to Mr BILL BAKER he has told me that 2005 1/2 will be the yr that England will see this new Defender but not really new at all because they are going to redesign just the dash board to accomodate the new law pertaining to airbags and that goes into effect in 2005 2006 models on the line etc ..in Great Britain etc...the British Military buys a good portion of those Defenders and they have told Landrover to keep Defender up and running...there has been talk of putting all new dash and electronics
in as well... to any body who thinks this will not happen will be very wrong indeed you will see the Defender back in our country by early 2006 or even earlier..its just a matter of the new law taking effect in 2005/2006
then they get airbags in England and then guess what
we get them as well because the law is the same as the US spec Defenders..also one last thing BILL BAKER IS not sure the Manual 5 spd will ever come back to our shores but?????a all new 6 spd auto shifter etc...now that sounds just right to me....but since I drive a 1995 Discovery #1 5 spd would love to have a 2005/2006
Defender 6 spd manual I am sure everybody will go for that....get ready because its coming ye ha ye ha
oh one last think they will do minor changes to the body
lines etc ...hope this helps the nay sayers....

Just bring them here and I bet a ton of us would be tickled pink.

I want one of those special vehicles D147's, although the breakover angle kinda sucks! LOL.
