I see from all the postings and pics that body trimming on a disco is quite common, but I haven't seen it here in South Africa. Mostly because Disco's are very expensive here and are usually only executive's cars and not offroad machines.... something I hope to change.
Could you guys out there send some info and pics on how you do this. How do you do it neatly and how do you protect the metal against corrosion afterwards?
Thanks

Bart,
I'll send you some pictures of what I did with a dremel and some cut off wheels, all the info is on my home computer though. Its actually really simple (slow, but simple) with a small rotarty tool and cut off disks you get a clean line with very little paint removal (easily fixed with touch up paint) The biggest thing, in my mind, is you need to be careful and go slow. Clearly marking where you're going to cut is key as well, and good, steady hands is a must.

Corrosion? The only thing I've chopped on thus far is Aluminum so I wasn't too worried about that.

I'll see what I can dig up, there should be a wealth of people's opinions and experiences here b/c nearly everyone who goes past stock tires cuts in the back.

You can kinda see the way the back fender slopes back more. Read the directions carefully, and just TAKE YOUR TIME. As you know, you can take a little off, but you can't add a little on.

Dremel would be tedious to get srtaight. Likely angle grinder w/ cut off wheel would work well.

Anyhow, on the back, I just cut mine off at the trim panel, but my bumper fits there nicely.

Thanks Lewis.:-)

Sorry about the pictures Brian, I have no clue why they don't work for you. If you have any interest in seeing that pic, I guess you could just look at it in my gallery.
