I know this has been talked about several times but I can not find in the search. My ??? is, I put the OME HD lift on and am looking at tires now, I want the 235/85/16's but it does not look like they will fit. I have not tried to fit one yet but I took a tape measure to it and clearance seems to tight. I know trimming in the rear or relocating fender is all needed but what about the front, I just am not sure. Any help and pics would be great. Thanks as always.

Yep. http://www.discoweb.org/briandickens/

The steel NATO wheels have this size. You will need to trim I believe, see trim under tech.

Any good tire store will fit one and then find a ramp or dock to stuff in in and find out if there is rubbing. If they won't don't buy the tires there.

I have the OME heavy springs and am running 265/75's on it. I had to trim the front bumper a little and the plastic sill, but it looks fine. No rubbing at all.

I am running the exact set-up you mentioned (HD OME & 235/85/16) they will fit.

Rear trimming required, nothing for the front apart from resetting your steering stops, to prevent the tyres fouling the radius arms.

you wont need any fender relocation. Just very minor trimming of front plastic in front wells, and little cuts in rear alluminium thingies of rear wells.

You might be ok without trimming to run on street, but if you will hit bump and turn.. Or go off the highway for a while - then there might be some scratching.. So do minor trim to be safe.

I did the same exact setup in September. Very minor trimming to the inside of the rear fenders and adjustment of my steering stops were all that was necessary.

I did butcher the front plastic trim for the bumper but that was just to get me out of the garage and over to Ron's to put on the ARB. If you have the integrated mud flaps, you'll have to remove them as well.

What about gears. Can you run stock gears without damaging them when 4-wheeling or just around town. And how about your speedo, how bad would that be off.

I'm running 235/85-16 with stock gears. Slower and zero ability to pass or maintain speed above 65mph. No damage other than ego. Also did relocation rather than trimming.

Hmmm. I only have issues with the stock gears and 235s in the mountains, otherwise I maintain 70 OK. On road I have no issues, off road going down hills is a bit faster. Speedo is off about 3.5 MPH, if I remember correctly (test it with a GPS). You should be OK with other stock items as long as you are not heavy on the accelerator off road. If you do gears, I'd recommend lockers and HD axles at the same time. Lower ears would definitely help off road, going down up and for more control.

Yeah, sorry. I edited my post and ommited the reference to hills. Only problem maintaining speed going up a grade.

Peter, the 265/75's are almost 11" wide but 32" tall depending on brand so same height but wider than the 235/85.
