What's your recommended provider? I'm on MSN, and I've had it with them. 80% of the time I can't get logged in, either at home or at work.

Lately I've only been able to check e-mail about once a day. I can be off-line for days, but when I attempt to log in, it says I've had too many unsuccessful attempts.

Anyway, since I'm going to change, what are some suggestions?

Greg,

I'd look into Comcast or another cable modem provider. I'm not on Comcast but a local yocal cable provider and I love the bandwidth and reliability. For the price to bandwidth ratio, its pretty hard to beat.

I've never been happy with MSN or AOL FWIW.

I have comcast, and it is pretty good, haven't really had any problems at all with. I use AOL also and am happy with it.

I've tried a bunch also and so far Comcast cable modem has been pretty good - though I live in a rural area where I don't believe to many other people are on the line with cable modems so my speed is very high (for the moment)

I tried comcast for 3 weeks and was impressed with the speed they offer. I now use Verizon DSL which offers half the speed of what comcast has and so far I haven't had any problems. The only thing I've seen at Verizon is at least 2 hackattempts per day on my computer so I strongly suggest using either a personal firewall or a hardware firewall for protection.

The firewall is a must for any broadband service... especially if you get a static IP address.
