Hey Guys - I have a '02 DII Kalahari and want to install a heated windscreen - any suggestions? The truck did not come with the cold weather package so I installed the heated seat switches (works perfect), and now I want to upgrade the windscreen as well. What parts will I need and is it pre-wired like the seats etc. etc. TIA. |

It should be prewired. Open your hood and look up by the windshield. There should be a plug on both sides of the truck for the windshield. At least there is on my '99 SE. You need the windshield, which isn't cheap, and the switch for the dash. |

and I am not sure if its worth it. my windsheild BARELY does anything, the washer fluid is more effective than the windsheild. anyone want to chip in on how "warm" or effective this thing is supposed to be? |

Don't waste your money. The regular defroster and washer fluid work much better. I only have 30K on my truck and about half of the heating element doesn't work anymore. IMHO - don't do it. |

is there any way to test if mine is even working? i just got it replaced (for free) and i didn't even notice a change from the dead one. I'm wondering if there is a bad relay or something, but I am not sure where to look, or what to look for. words? |

Don't even bother with the heated winshield. Mine does virtually nothing. If you are in an environment where it is truly needed those little wires do not keep up with the wet cold air assaulting them. -C |

Granted, I'm in So. Cal. but I love my heated windshield. It defrosts and becomes perfectly transparent inside of 30 seconds on those "cold" mornings. Such a change from my old Saturn that took 10-15 minutes to warm up and defrost.
