A few weeks ago I posted the my drive shaft blew apart 200 miles out of warranty and took out my Trans.
LR wanted $5300 to put in a new Trans, even though the casing and pan were the only thing affected. I refused to give them a dime. LR denied any problem with the drive shaft and refused to budge on anything. Unfortunately due to the disrespect and horrible service ive been getting this year from LR dealers and their reps i dont think i will ever buy another LR or any Ford product. Considering this was my first vehicle, i think theyre losing a lot more then me. I am in school in Boston and unable to work on the truck myself so my dad had it towed to aamco which quoted him at 2700 to fix everything and give it a 90 day warranty, so he did that even though I would rather wait till the summer till im there. It half the price of what LR quoted me so im not to upset. I will also order a Tom Woods custom shaft.

Rick - sorry to hear about this. But to be fair on rover, you did have a huge lift, and you've been through all kinds of muddy crap (I have photographic evidence). I just say get over it, and with that much lift get the HD shafts ASAP, and move on. Life's a bitch sometimes.

Dean

ps does the odometer run backwards in reverse?:-)

You have a point but its more then the drive shaft. That just put it over the edge. Ill do water road in reverse next time to see if mileage come off. i think the lm 002 is gonna be my next vehicle, so im gonna be saving up for a while.

Rick, if you got front shaft ordered, can you share measurement from flange to flange? I am about to order from Tom, but i am puzzled that length on my Disco came as something like 24.5" whereas in tech section its 25.25"...

And its usual that dealership shop would quote you way more.. I had minor damage on my GC appraised by DC at 3+K, whereas independent lill shop wanted about 1.5K... And for real there was bugger all to fix :-) Just had friend of mine to go through nearly same road with his Jetta.

Rick,

Sorry to hear about your Disco troubles.

If you want a third opinion, try Import Specialist in Paramus, NJ (201-493-8213). They work only on Rovers and can probably do a better job than a generalized shop like Aamco.
