I stuck my camera underneath the Touraeg that parks next to me in my garage and took a picture of the dreaded rotoflex couplers that sit on either end of driveshaft. The one pictured is at the t-case. At least we only have one. (and if anyone tries to spoil my fun by telling me it won't matter since it has independent suspension all around and the shaft does not move laterally I will be angry)

I hear they eat off of the bottom, so they like to keep it clean.

ya'll see the too-rags in the Dakar coverage going into the water yesterday. Showed one of them today getting towed from it. The female driver might go back to bikes next year. The wing-d Nissans got hydro locked too.

Considering the weight of the vehicle and amount of hardcore "wheeling" they will see it'll be fine with that. Especially if the VW engineers did any better the the LR guys.

I did not have ANY issues with the Roto until lift, wheels and trails were added.

Looks damn near identical though.

they are there to absorb shock loads thus protecting the lightweight drivetrain.

Bet that Dakar Taureg doesn't have rotoflex. ;-) BTW, the Nissan fired after pulling the plugs and cranking the cylinders dry. No snorkels on anyone -- the whole rally was surprised as hell to find all that water in the Sahara! BTW, there is a LR Defender Bowler running -- seen it twice now. www.speedtv.com

I saw that Defender! i first saw it from behind and didn't realize what it was, weird tail lights. i wish speedtv would at least keep the coverage an hour a day, this 30 min sucks...oh well, some better than none!
...now about the wings on the nissan trucks...we'll see them soon on lowered street rice trucks (with some sort of 'type R' sticker):-)

Rotoflexors are common in BMWs and probably other European vehicles for all I know. They're very robust...until you start installing suspension lifts!

BWM calls them "guibo disks".
